Frequently asked questions
Everything to know before your next paddle handoff.
Buying a paddle
How do I buy a paddle?
Browse the available paddles, then contact Mike with the model you want. Mike will confirm availability and arrange a local viewing and pickup.
Where do we meet? Do you ship?
Second Serve serves Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and surrounding suburbs. Handoffs take place by appointment at a public location agreed with Mike. We do not ship.
Can I inspect the paddle before paying?
Yes. Inspect the actual paddle and ask about its condition before payment. Any play test, trial period, warranty, or return arrangement must be agreed in writing before purchase; none is automatically included.
How can I pay?
Cash, Venmo, and PayPal are accepted at pickup. Payment is due before handoff. Mike will confirm the account and verify digital payment. Use the appropriate purchase or business payment option for Venmo or PayPal.
What do condition labels and model ratings mean?
Condition describes the individual paddle’s visible wear; review its photos and notes for details. Model ratings come from the linked review source and describe the model, not the condition of this used paddle. Original retail prices are reference prices, not a promise of today’s new price.
Selling your paddle
How do I get started?
Use the seller inquiry form with the model, condition, and one or two quick photos. Mike will review it with you and agree on the details before drop-off. Sending an inquiry does not create a consignment agreement.
What does it cost, and what do I receive?
The fee is $25 per paddle, deducted only after a completed sale. A paddle sold for $100 leaves you $75. There is no selling fee if it does not sell. Any additional charge requires your prior agreement.
What does the selling fee include?
Mike cleans every paddle, puts on a new grip, takes listing photos, documents visible condition, helps with pricing, and handles the listing, buyer questions, and local handoff. Cleaning and regripping are included in the $25 selling fee. Repairs and a guaranteed sale are not included.
Who approves the price?
You approve the asking price and minimum payout before your listing goes live. Mike will get your approval before accepting a lower price. The online value estimate is preliminary guidance, not a guaranteed selling price.
When and how will I be paid?
You and Mike agree in writing on the payout method and deadline before drop-off. Seller payment follows a completed sale under those agreed terms.
What happens if my paddle has not sold after 30 days?
After 30 days, your unsold paddle can be returned or relisted at a lower asking price agreed with you. Mike will confirm the new price and your payout before relisting. No selling fee is charged if the paddle does not sell.
What should I disclose about my paddle?
Tell Mike about known damage, repairs, modifications, grip changes, or performance issues, and confirm that you own the paddle or are authorized to sell it. A visible condition review cannot rule out hidden damage.
Can I change or cancel my listing?
Contact Mike to discuss a change or cancellation and arrange collection when needed. Price changes and any relisting terms must be agreed with you.
